Students visited the EPIC Museum in Dublin and took part in the “League of Important Women” / Women’s History Tour. This inspiring programme highlighted the lives and legacies of remarkable Irish women who have shaped history. During the tour, students learned about rebels, revolutionaries, and trailblazing change-makers, hearing fascinating stories of famine emigrants, Nobel Prize winners, pilots, explorers, designers, and Olympic medalists who made a lasting impact on the world.
The group also visited the Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship Museum. During the guided tour, students discovered the powerful story of the thousands of Irish people who fled the Great Famine and undertook a difficult and dangerous journey across the Atlantic in search of a better life in North America. Stepping aboard the ship brought this history to life, allowing students to imagine the harsh conditions and emotional experiences faced by emigrants during their long voyage.
The day continued with a walking tour of Dublin’s famous landmarks, including O’Connell Street, the GPO, the Spire, Trinity College, Temple Bar, the Ha’penny Bridge, St Stephen’s Green, and Grafton Street.
Students also had some time to explore the city, do a bit of shopping, and enjoy Dublin’s vibrant atmosphere. Despite the rain, it was a wonderful and memorable day filled with culture, history, and discovery.
